The Fairline Mirage, although capable at sea, remains one of the most popular river boats ever made by the famous marque.

This well presented example is the most popular of all the engine options that were available. A single Volvo Penta diesel. This affords the best performance for cost. Single engine servicing and fuel economy with diesel safety. The engine was originally a 145hp but this has been uprated to the turbocharged and intercooled 165hp version. 

Featuring five berths in two cabins the Fairline Mirage is certainly adaptable. The forward cabin has two single berths or a large double berth when the infill cushion is in place. Coming aft, the port side has the saloon area with U shaped seating around the saloon table. Opposite is a long couch/single berth.

Aft again is the very workable galley to port with a sink, cooker, fridge, microwave, hot and cold pressurised water system and work surfaces.

On the starboard side is the heads. This features a toilet, hand basin and shower with hot and cold running water.

Exiting the companionway brings you out to the aft cockpit. Well proportioned and equipped, the cockpit is hard topped in the forward part and soft canopied to the aft part. A very nice feature here is the removable soft panel in the hard top.

A skippers seat at the helm and co pilot seat forward, with a full width aft bench seat, together give ample seating in the cockpit. Beneath the cockpit floor is the engine compartment. As this had to accommodate twin engines in some boats, with the single diesel fitted it can only be described as cavernous. Batteries and hot water tank hardly take any space leaving a large area for storage of the bits and pieces that we all seem to accumulate.

And finally, aft of the cockpit is the davitts and bathing platform in stainless steel and teak, with reboarding ladder fitted.
